Subhash Chandra Bose. All you need to know

Also known as "Netaji," Subhash Chandra Bose was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement against British colonial rule. He was born in Cuttack, Orissa, India, on January 23, 1897.

Bose was an excellent student who earned a degree in philosophy from the University of Calcutta. After that, he went to England to study for the Indian Civil Service, but he failed the exam twice and returned to India.

Bose was a staunch opponent of Mahatma Gandhi's non-violent approach to achieving freedom and was deeply committed to the cause of Indian independence. He advocated for the use of force to drive the British out of Britain.

Bose was detained and jailed in 1923 for his role in a plot to overthrow the British government in India. In 1925, he got out of jail and went to Europe. There, he met leaders of the Indian independence movement, German and Italian leaders, and so on.

Bose established the Indian National Army (INA) with the assistance of the Axis powers during World War II. In 1941, he went back to India and led the INA in a fight against the British.

Although they were unsuccessful in driving the British out, Bose's efforts inspired many Indians to join the fight for independence. The independence movement adopted his slogan "Jai Hind," which means "Victory to India."

The mysterious circumstances surrounding Bose's sudden death in 1945 while he was traveling to Japan sparked controversy. However, he was widely acknowledged for his contributions to the Indian independence movement and leadership role in inspiring Indians to fight for their rights.

In India, the legacy of Subhash Chandra Bose is still celebrated. He is regarded as a hero and a symbol of resistance against British colonial rule.
